Following a recent defeat by Rutgers the week before, the team was lacking the support of their fans both in-person, and online. However, the team entered the game was unprecedented energy and aggression leading to a spartan victory 27 – 24.

Socially Distanced Football Fans SS- Following the retirement of head coach Mark Dantonio, Mel Tucker took up the reigns of MSU football and was first tested in the season opener against Rutgers. After a delay of the season due to COVID-19 concerns, the first game was scheduled to be played in Spartan Stadium on Oct. 24, 2020. Rutgers fans celebrate a first down in a game against MSU that they eventually won 38 – 27.

Missed Opportunity SS- MSU cornerback, Shakur Brown (29), and OSU wide reciever, Chris Olave (2) both go for the ball and miss it in Spartan Stadium on Dec. 5, 2020.

Victory SS- After a crushing defeat against Rutgers the week before, MSU football traveled to Ann Arbor to play long-time rival, the University of Michigan on Oct. 31, 2020. Running back Connor Heyward (11) scores the game-winning touchdown for Michigan State in “the big house.” Despite the nearly-empty stadium, cheers echoed across the field from the Spartan sideline.
